From a product perspective, energy conservation and efficiency in the data center is the primary “green” concern with power and cooling issues continuously top-of-mind. Our customers frequently ask about the ways that PANDUIT solutions support power, cooling, and energy efficiency goals.

PANDUIT high-density, flexible physical layer solutions maximize space utilization and optimize energy use. Research by PANDUIT Laboratories into thermal management includes advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to model optimal airflow patterns and above-floor temperature distributions throughout the data center. This data is then used to develop rack, cabinet, and cable management systems that efficiently route and organize critical IT infrastructure elements.

High-density cabling solutions help maximize available space and ultimately conserve natural resources over the life cycle of the data center facility. Innovative PANDUIT® Mini-Com® 48-port 1RU Angled Modular Patch Panels can be used with PatchRunner™ Vertical Cable Managers to quadruple cabling densities and reduce system footprint by 23%. QuickNet pre-terminated cabling solutions also achieve high cabling densities (96 fiber or 48 copper connections per rack unit), and offer the practical green benefit of less associated wire scrap and packaging waste than their field-terminated counterparts.

The PANDUIT Net-Access™ Cabinet promotes passive cooling

Cabinets play a critical role in managing the high heat loads generated by active equipment. PANDUIT® Net-Access™ Cabinets feature large pathways for efficient cable routing and improved airflow while providing open-rack accessibility to manage, protect, and showcase cabling and equipment. Other passive solutions (no additional fans or compressors) contribute by minimizing bypass air in order to manage higher heat loads in the data center and ensure proper equipment operation and uptime. Elements such as exhaust ducting, filler panels, and the PANDUIT® Cool Boot™ Raised Floor Assembly support hot and cold aisle separation in accordance with the TIA-942 standard.

Network and power management tools enable better control over energy consumption throughout the enterprise. The PANDUIT® PanView Intelligent Physical Layer Management (IPLM) system provides complete control over port counts so network managers can accurately provision computer rooms, telecommunication closets, and data centers to eliminate extraneous resources. Also, intelligent power management hardware and software maximizes power efficiency across all Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled ports. PANDUIT® DPoE™ Systems offer the unique advantage of optimizing power use by automatically sensing and providing proper powering for connected devices while allowing for superior DC-DC power conversion and centralized UPS backup.
