New Panduit Inlet Duct for 1RU Switches — Saves Energy, Enhances Unified Physical Infrastructure^sm Based Solutions in Data Centers

TINLEY PARK, IL (August 7, 2009) – Panduit, a global leader in Unified Physical Infrastructure^sm solutions announces its new inlet duct system designed to provide cool air to 1RU switches. When deployed within server cabinets or racks as part of data center infrastructure, the modular duct provides a cool air path to the air intakes on the sides of the switch. The modular inlet duct system has tested compatible with Cisco Catalyst 4948, 4928 and 4924 switches joining the Net-Access™ suite of Cisco Compatible Cabinet systems. Being “Day 1 or Day 2” installable, the modular inlet duct system can be deployed after the 4948 and other equipment has been installed. The requirement to replace or disturb existing cabinets, equipment and infrastructure is eliminated, lowering capital expenditures and minimizing risk. By providing a path for cool air to the switch, data center temperature set points can be raised - resulting in higher energy efficiencies and lower operating costs contributing to a lower cost of ownership, enhanced data center infrastructure and overall network performance.
